The Fool
Journeyers, wanders, lovers of life! The Fool is calling you! Take up your cloak and your staff, and leave your cares behind! Walk forward into the new, the unknown! Step out into the big, broad world! Take a risk, take a chance, make a change! Dare to do, do to dare! Become one of those beloved fools!
Alas and alack, however, because as we all know, innocence can be a two-edged sword. Seeing with Beginner’s Mind is wonderful, but naivete can betray us at the worst of moments. The Fool, though, has not yet been betrayed. Though s/he may be about to step off that cliff, it has not happened yet, and thus the moment is preserved in a lift, on a rise. We thrust our bodies up and out, because it’s the only way that we can change and grow, the only way that we can ever go forward.
Upon what journey do you need to embark? Where in your world do you need to abandon the sinking ship, grab your knapsack, and walk out into the sunshine without a backward glance? Or maybe you’ve been too determinedly staring out the door to new opportunities to be aware of where you are now? How can you embrace the energy of the youth, and embrace the adventure of the unknown?
