Six of Coins

The Six of Coins is generosity, but it is also being stretched beyond what one can reasonably give. The coins are cast away, scattered without care. This benefits neither the giver nor the receiver. For the giver doesn’t see how much is being thrown away, and risks landing in the same position as those she helps by squandering her own fortune. But she also does not see those who are grasping needily for what offers — does not see their faces and humanity, nor the bigger causes that have brought them to this. The symptom may be temporarily alleviated, but the systemic cause remains.

When the Six of Coins comes up, pay attention to how much you are giving and where. Are you giving where your wealth can best serve? Are there wiser ways to help? Are you putting a bandaid on your conscious while continuing to contribute to the problems you claim to care about?
