King of Cups

The King of Cups is a leader of great compassion and empathy. He’s the Fisher King, the wounded leader who has gained compassion in the process of healing his own wounds.  Who can only heal himself because of the compassion and empathy he has gained for others.

This model of kingship is not one that we see acted out very often in the modern world. But it is one that we need; an authority that seeks to heal rather than punish. One less focused on bargains, deals and reputation than on seeking for the best solution.

What wounds do you have that need healing for you to be effective? How are you leading with compassion and empathy? What is your goal — glory or the greater good?
