Eight of Staves
The Eight of Staves is all about swift change, things set in motion. Whatever is coming — good, bad, expected, surprise — it’s already in the works. Often portrayed as eight wands sailing through the air, unfettered and in flight.
Arrows, which can fly swiftly through the air, represent motion and speed. Arrows can also be, depending on the skill of an archer devastatingly accurate.
Once fired, however, there is no more control. What is set into motion is already in play. There is no changing course mid-flight, no way to know where things will land. Only once one begins to collect them can one see what has come of the effort. In the meantime, things are moving, changing and evolving. Even when you can’t see them.
